Kate Counts
Kate has been guiding movement in the wellness community for over a decade. Education has always been an important part in Kate’s life…from teaching elementary school for years to learning about the body and functional fitness to diving into the importance of social responsibility. Kate is always filling the shoes of student to bring a deeper sense of knowledge to all she does.
Kate has taught many different modalities of movement, from group fitness, personal training, spin and yoga. The practice of yoga, combining stillness, movement and breath is where Kate feels must aligned with purpose...and it is through this awareness the calling to show up has evolved. Kate believes the time spent on the mat exploring through self inquiry, meditation and movement brings us closer to our inner knowing, that beautiful voice that holds our truth. This truth brings a sense of self awareness into our daily lives and how we live in relationship with the global community, it carries us to the frontline of personal and collective progress.
Kate challenges her students to use the compass of yoga to navigate the waters of social justice and how this relates to the well being of all.
Using the tools of yoga to:
- discover our inner ripples: the gifts we hold to contribute to the world
-be accountable for our actions and sit with discomfort and uncertainty in order to build deeper relationship and connection with ourselves, others and the planet as a whole.
-show up at the frontline of life to actively create a world where all beings are seen, heard and believed.
It is all yoga….all of it: the movement, the connection, the music, the sweat, the tears, the laughter, the relationship building, the trust and the drive to do better and show up for each other…
Kate teaches weekly class in her hometown of Charleston, SC that focuses on social justice, privilege and building relationship with ourselves and others.
