We are emotional beings trying to make our way through a balanced, healthy human life. On some special days, we might even strive for a spiritual connection. However, on an everyday basis, we are wrapped around and even dictated by emotions, from a wave to a cascade, a bubble to a rush, we experience it all, sometimes even on the same day: anger, happiness, sadness, fear, awe, and disgust. Although it is normal to experience a spectrum of emotions, it is also important to learn how to navigate, transform, and harness them.
When we deprive the body, mind, and heart of much needed rest, care, and healing, and most importantly—listening to it—it’s easy to turn away from fulfilling our most fundamental duty: to be healthy and to be kind. The possibility to give back, for our lives to be of purpose, to live by the foundational principles of Yoga, and the possibility to honor those who came before us—and who paved the path so lovingly with sacrifice and effortless giving—begins with emotional discernment.
In this session, we will explore how to use Yogic practices like asanas, pranayama, mudras, and relaxation to balance, purify, and harness emotions daily. The short lecture will be followed by a guided practice. There will be time for Q and A.
It is these tools we all need, and we all may benefit from.
